RALEIGH, N.C. – Georgia Tech men’s tennis lost at NC State on Friday, 4-1. The No. 8 doubles pairing of Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel bested the No. 41 doubles team of Rocens/Van Sambeek of NC State.
The doubles point saw NC State jump out to a quick lead before Martin/McDaniel tied up the doubles point a one all with a 7-5 victory on court one. The doubles point came down to court two where NC State held a 6-5 lead. The Wolfpack would hold on to that lead, winning 7-5 and taking the doubles point.
Martin came out strong to start the single action, finishing first to tie the match up 1-1. Martin fell behind 0-4 in the first set before storming back to a 6-4 set win. Set two started with a 1-2 deficit for Martin before he took the set 6-2, securing the match.
NC State won the next three singles matches, clinching the match 4-1.
The final two matches went unfinished with the Yellow Jackets ahead on each court. McDaniel was leading on court two 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 while Pablo Schelcher was up a set on court five 7-5, 3-5.
The White and Gold complete their North Carolina tour against No. 7 Wake Forest.
