PALO ALTO, Calif. – Northwestern’s 13th-ranked Cristelle Grier and Alexis Prousis pulled off a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over 10th-ranked Kristi Miller and Lyndsay Shosho of Georgia Tech, eliminating the Yellow Jackets from play in the NCAA Doubles Championships in the quarterfinal round Saturday afternoon at the Taube Tennis Complex on the campus of Stanford University.
The Yellow Jacket duo was just the second pair to reach the NCAA Doubles Championships, and became the first doubles All-Americans in Georgia Tech women’s tennis history by advancing to the quarterfinals Friday night.
Earlier in the day, Stanford’s Theresa Logar broke Tech’s top-ranked Miller at 4-3 in the third set and held on for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory over the Yellow Jacket three-time All-American, ending Miller’s run in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championships Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, Miller ended her singles season with a stellar 41-7 record after becoming Tech’s first two-time All-American in singles play.
