THE FLATS – Deniz Ertan and Mert Kilavuz led the Georgia Tech swim and dive teams with top podium finishes in the 1650 free events on the final day of competition at the ACC Championships.
Ertan became Tech’s first female multi champion after winning the women’s 1650 free. With her first-place time of 15:55.77, Ertan broke her own school record in the event and in the 1000 free (9:35.70). She is also Tech’s multi champion since the 2019 ACC Championships.
On the men’s side, Kilavuz earned Tech another podium finish. He claimed a silver medal in the 1650 free and placed for the second season in a row after swimming a time of 14:41.50.
Two other Jackets competed for spots on the podium in their respective events. Berke Saka placed fifth overall in the men’s 200 back fwith a time of 1:40.50. Elijah Klier qualified for the men’s platform finals and earned a seven-place finish with a score of 316.55.
In total, Tech had approximately 35 qualifications for finals at the ACC Championships. The Jackets recorded five school record with two in one event.
At the end of the meet, both the men and women finished ninth. The men recorded 484.5 points and the women finished with 388 points.
