Tech Dominates Emory in Home Opener

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving started their season off with a dominating victory over Emory on Saturday at McAuley Aquatic Center. The Jackets finished with a combined score of 339 points which towered over Emory’s total score of 141 points.

Tech had multiple athletes earns wins across several events. On the men’s side, Batur Ünlü championed the 200 Free (1:37.16) and 500 Free (4:26.51). Brooke Switzer and Deniz Ertan led the women’s team to multiple victories. Switzer won the 200 Free (1:52.32) and 100 Free (51.98) while Ertan earned first-place finishes in the 400 IM (4:16.74) and 500 Free (4:49.15).

Ruben Lechuga and Anna Bradescu earned victories in the men’s and women’s 1 Meter and 3 Meter diving events. Lechuga earned a score of 402.60 in the 1M and finished the meet with a score of 439.58 in the 3M. Bradescu led the women with a 1M score of 298.99 and 3M score of 292.58.

Throughout the meet, the Jackets claimed the top three spots in multiple events.

Men’s 200 Back – 1. Berke Saka (1:48.42), 2. Chris Richardson (1:49.69), 3. Cade Martin (1:53.28)

UP NEXT

Tech will head to UNC Wilmington for a matchup against the Seahawks and Campbell on Saturday, Oct. 8.
