Tech Cross Country Women Finish Ninth at Chile Pepper Invitational

Sophomore Nisha Kurian led the Georgia Tech women to a ninth place finish on Saturday while the men placed 18th and were led by sophomore Nazar Trilisky as the Jackets competed in the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. The men and women competed in a field of 30 and 38 teams, respectively. This was the last meet for the Ramblin’ Wreck before the ACC Championships take place later this month.

Kurian finished as the top Tech runner for the third consecutive meet this year as she placed 43rd overall with a time of 21:57 in the 6K race. Junior Mary Chind finished nine spots behind Kurian in 52nd place with a time of 22:10, and junior Jenny Sims rounded out the top three for the Tech women with a 68th place finish and a time of 22:26. Other Jackets competing on Saturday were sophomore Elena Linn (22:38), freshman Katina Zuganelis (23:11), sophomore Emily Yandle, (23:21), senior Misty Dirksen (23:28), senior Catherine Spoth (23:33), sophomore Maria Hampton (23:48), and freshman Ashley Keck (24:06).

On the men’s side, Trilisky also topped all Tech runners for the third straight time this season with a 63rd overall finish (31:38) in the 10K race. Senior Rob Kuhn finished 84th with a time of 32:03 while Matt Kinsel placed third among the Jacket runners with a time of 32:28. Seven other runners competed for Tech on the day: junior David Herren (32:31), freshmen Casey Gramling (32:46), James Taylor (33:03), Greg Johnson (33:08), Will Bonn (33:11), junior Paul Specht (33:52), and senior Clark Rivers (36:34).

Tech will return to action on October 31 as it travels to Tallahassee for the second time this season to compete in the ACC Championships.
