THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech swimming and diving teams have concluded two days of competition at the Auburn Invitational.
FRIDAY RESULTS
Friday’s competition was highlighted by top performances in the women’s 50 free, women’s 100 fly, women’s 200 free, men’s 100 breast and the women’s and men’s 100 back.
In the women’s freestyle events, Sophie Murphy placed fourth in the 50 free (23.18) and fifth in the 200 free (1:48.08). Kiah Smith (23.33) and Caroline Porterfield (23.42) finished fifth and eighth in the 50 free.
In the women’s 100 fly, Sabina Mrzyglod came in sixth place (54.79) and Smith finished eighth (55.04). On the men’s side, David Gapinski finished in eighth place with a time of 48.24.
Sarah Livingston placed fifth (56.36) and Arianna Dirkzwager placed sixth (56.90) in the women’s 100 back. Cade Martin finished in eighth place in the men’s event with a time of 48.92.
In the men’s 100 breast, Julian Killius swam a fifth-place time of 54.70.
SATURDAY RESULTS
Saturday’s competition was highlighted by Tech’s performances in the women’s and men’s 200 back, men’s 1650 free, women’s 100 free, men’s 200 breast and men’s 200 fly.
In the backstroke events, Ar. Dirkzwager (2:03.02), Livingston (2:03.24) and Astrid Dirkzwager (2:03.49) claimed the seventh through ninth place spots. On the men’s side, Simon Davies finished eighth with a time of 1:48.45.
Killius came in eighth place in the men’s 200 breast with a time of 2:00.60.
In the freestyle events, Caleb Blischke finished seventh in the men’s 1650 free with a time of 15:44.97. Murphy swam a seventh-place time of 50.32 in the women’s 200 free.
Gapinski earned a ninth-place finish in the men’s 200 fly with a time of 1:48.97.
