Tech and Georgia Southern to Play Baseball Doubleheader on Saturday

ATLANTA – Due to heavy rains in the forecast for Sunday, Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern will play a double header on Saturday afternoon in at J.I. Clements Stadium Statesboro. The twin bill will begin at 1:30 p.m., with the second game beginning immediately following game one. Both games will be nine innings.

The Yellow Jackets (0-0) and Eagles (3-0) were originally scheduled to play a single game on both Saturday and Sunday before adjusting the schedule due to the impending inclement weather.

Saturday’s games will kick off the 2003 season for the Yellow Jackets, who are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation. Georgia Southern opened its season last weekend with a three-game sweep of Morris Brown.

Georgia Tech will send junior lefthander Kyle Bakker (13-2, 3.14 ERA in 2002) to the mound in game one where he will be opposed by Georgia Southern right hander Brian Rogers (1-0, 0.00). Game two’s pitching matchup will pit Tech senior righty Chris Goodman (8-2, 4.41 in 2002) against GSU right hander Brian Harrison (1-0, 0.00).
