Swim-Dive Start Season with White vs. Gold Intrasquad Meet

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving is set to begin its schedule Friday with the White vs. Gold Intrasquad Meet at the McAuley Aquatic Center. The meet is slated to run on Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Yellow Jackets have been training hard this offseason to continue a record-setting clip where the White and Gold rewrote the record books.

Men’s swimming and diving etched 32 new top-10 program times last season. This includes eight new all-time records. These come by way of Batur Ünlü who set the all-time marks in the 200 free (1:32.27) and 500 free (4:17.82) and Christian Ferraro who set the all-time marks in the 100 fly (45.34) and 200 fly (1:40.64). The remaining four all-time marks were all relay times. Ferraro, Austin Daniel, Kyle Barone and Justin Alderson set the mark in the 200 free relay (1:17.70), Ünlü, Caio Pumputis, Barone and Ferraro topped the record book in the 400 free relay (2:51.79), Barone, Pumputis, Ferraro and Daniel took the top spot in the 200 medley relay (1:23.89) and Barone, Pumputis, Ferraro and Ünlü claimed the top spot in the 400 medley relay (3:04.37).

Women’s swimming and diving set 35 new top-10 program times. This includes three new all-time records and nine new top three times in program history. McKenzie Campbell set the all-time marks in the 200 fly (1:56.52) and 400 IM (4:12.02). Camryn Hidalgo claimed the top spot in the platform (309.20). Hidalgo now owns every top score in Georgia Tech women’s diving history.

Overall, the Jackets had seven All-Americans. On the men’s side, Pumputis was an All-American in the 200 breast and 200 IM, Ünlü was an All-American in the 200 free and Ferraro was an All-American in the 100 fly. On the women’s side, Anna Bradescu was an All-American on the platform, Campbell was an All-American in the 50 free and 200 fly, Hidalgo was an All-American in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform and Brooke Switzer was an All-American in the 200 free.
