Swim-Dive Concludes Day One in Texas

COLLEGE STATION, TX – Georgia Tech swim and dive concluded day one of their meet in Texas. The Yellow Jackets had a lot of impressive performances that ended with podium finishes. 

In the 400 IM for the women, McKenzie Campbell finished with a first-place time of 4:13.37. Sabyne Brisson had an eventful day as she placed second in the 200 breast with a time of (2:10.45). Brisson also broke her own school record that she set two weeks ago by .07 seconds in the 100-breast finishing with a third-place time of 1:00.11. Anna Hadjiloizou tied for third place with Texas’s Angie Coe in the 50 free (22.79). 

Anna Bradescu finished the day with a total of 316.05 points, landing in second place in the women’s 3-meter dive. In the women’s 1-meter dive, Elizabeth Powley placed third with 241.88 points. 

For the men, Mert Kilavuz had a dominate first-place performance in the 1000 free with a time of 8:49.57. Kilavuz also recorded a new school record in the 1000 free set by himself in 2022 (8:49.76). Batur Unlu placed second in both the 500 free (4:20.77) and the 200 free (1:34.31). Also ending the day with second place performances was Berke Saka in the 100 back (46.47) and Robin Yeboah in the 50 free (20.11).  

In both relay events, the men placed second. In the 200 free relay, David Gapinski, Justin Alderson, Leandro Odorici, and Yeboah finished with a time of 1:19.21. In the 400-medley relay, Saka, Unlu, Odorici, and Yeboah finished with a time of 3:10.07. 

Max Fowler ended the day with second place finishes in the men’s 1-meter and 3-meter dive. Ruben Lechuga placed third behind Fowler in the 3-meter dive with 374.63 points.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action for day two of the meet with the first event scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
