Swarm of Jackets Earn All-ACC Academic Honors

THE FLATS – 15 members of the Georgia Tech cross country programs have been named to the 2022 All-ACC Academic Teams, as announced by the conference on Thursday.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in either the ACC Championship or NCAA Championships in the sport of cross country.

Eight members of women’s team were recognized, including USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees Liz Galarza, Kate Jortberg and Helena Lindsay. At the 2022 ACC Championships, the women finished 10th and their top performer, Lindsay, just missed the cutoff for All-ACC honors with a 24th place finish. Tech had three athletes finish in the top 50 runners. All three women earn All-South Region honors and Galarza qualified for the 2022 NCAA Championships.

Mary Brady (Biomedical Engineering), Katy Earwood (Neuroscience), Liz Galarza (Mechanical Engineering)**, Kate Jortberg (Industrial Engineering), Helena Lindsay (Geographic Info Science Technology), Reagan Mahoney (Literature, Media & Communications), McKenna Trapheagen (Business Administration) and Mackenzie Walls (Literature, Media & Communications)

Seven members of the men’s team were named to the conference academic team. The men finished 11th at the 2022 ACC Championships, led by James Cragin. Cragin finished 45th overall at the conference meet. He also went on to earn All-South Region honors at the regional meet for finishing in the top 25 of the men’s race.
