Stowe Leads Jackets in Final Day of ACC Quad Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Sophomore Elizabeth Stowe clocked a season-best time of 4:56.66 to finish first in the women’s 500-yard freestyle to lead Georgia Tech at the ACC Swimming and Diving Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon in Maryland’s Campus Recreation Center. The Yellow Jacket men finished the meet 2-1, while the women finished 0-3.

“We swam our hearts out this weekend,” said head coach Stuart Wilson. “Our women swam well against tough competition and the men battled back today to tally a pair of wins. We now know where we are at this point of the season, and where we stand currently in the conference.”

Divers Tony Burkhardt and Laurissa Prystaj tallied second-place finishes to lead the Jackets on the springboards. Burkhardt posted a score of 279.40 on the men’s one-meter board, while Prystaj scored 258.25 points on the women’s three-meter board.

Freshman Caroline Jones swam a lifetime-best time of 2:03.15 in the women’s 200 backstroke to finish second for Tech. Redshirt freshman Chris Ewald logged a runner-up finish in the men’s 500 free with a time of 4:37.00.

Seniors Teemu Kettunen and Sam Morgan registered second-place finishes for the Jacket men. Kettunen touched the wall in 50.92 in the 100 butterfly, while Morgan clocked a time of 4:38.94 in the 500 free.

Junior Ryan Bishop tallied a third-place finish in the men’s 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:07.59. Sophomore Evan Stowers tallied a third-place finish on the men’s one-meter board with a score of 277.25.

The Yellow Jackets return to Atlanta to host the Alumni Meet during Homecoming weekend in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center on Friday, Oct. 28. The meet is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
