As a Junior (2023): Started in 43 games at first base … Went .293 at the plate by way of 34 hits, five doubles and five dingers for 23 RBI and 15 runs scored … Slugged .466 with a .379 on-base percentage … Drew 14 walks … Nearly completed the season with a flawless fielding percentage, finishing at .996 with 224 putouts and just one error … Tallied seven hits and a double to bat .538 and lead the Jackets in the Queen City Classic (Feb. 24-26) … Finished 3-for-4 with two RBI in a 7-4 win over Kent State (Feb. 26) … Responsible for every run scored in a 6-0 victory at Troy (March 22) … In the same contest, piled up career highs of five RBI, two doubles and two runs scored on the night … Also tied her personal best of three hits and hammered a three-run blast against the Trojans … Caught fire at the dish in the Boston College series, finishing 4-for-6 with a double, a home run and six RBI … – Batting .500 or better in each game against the Eagles, laced her fourth career home run in game one of the series and went 2-for-3 in the series finale with a pair of two-RBI knocks, one for a run-rule, walk-off double … Swatted a two-RBI single in her first plate appearance of the season in a 5-3 win over Kennesaw State (Feb. 21) … Launched her first career home run in a 5-2 triumph over Virginia (March 10) … Crushed her third career home run in an 11-3 romp of Mercer (April 4) … Barreled her fifth round tripper of the season and her career with a solo shot against then No. 10 Duke (April 21) … Seven multi-hit games … Set career-high 11 putouts against Boston College (April 7) … Strung together as high as a seven-game hitting streak and an 11-game streak of reaching base.
As a Sophomore (2022): Appeared in six games as a pinch hitter … Batted .333 on the year with two hits for an RBI … Also finished with a slugging percentage and on-base percentage of .333 … Picked up her first career hit in a 5-0 win over Furman (Feb. 22) … Added her second hit for her first career RBI by way of a single in a 9-1, mercy-rule victory over Dartmouth (March 22).
As a Freshman (2021): Appeared in one game against Clemson (Feb. 21) … Made her collegiate debut, stepping to the plate twice.
High School: Abby Hughes joins the Jackets from Leesburg, Ga. She pitched for four seasons at Lee County High School under Dwayne Suggs. The right-handed pitcher and utility player led Lee County to three-straight Region 1-6A titles (2017-19) and to the 6A state championship game in 2019. She was tabbed the Region1-6A Pitcher of the Year for four-straight seasons (2016-19) as well as first-team all-region all four years. In 2019 she was named the Region 1-6A Player of the Year. In 2019 she threw four no hitters and holds the Lee County HS record for career strikeouts (794), most strikeouts in seven innings (17) and most no hitters (4).
