Impending rain and possible thunder storms forecast for Friday have forced the cancellation of pre and post-game promotional activities for Georgia Tech’s Friday Night on The Flats spring football game. The actual football scrimmage set for 7:30 p.m. and Georgia Tech’s baseball game vs. N.C. State at 3 p.m. are still scheduled as of late Thursday with a decision on whether they will be played to be made on Friday. Updates will be posted on ramblinwreck.com.
“It’s really too bad that the weather has made all of the fan and student ancillary events we had scheduled not possible,” said Georgia Tech Associate Athletic Director Wayne Hogan. “The pre and post-game concerts, all of the Wreckfest activities and the spectacular fireworks display were definitely fan favorites last year and we’ll work to bring them back next time around. We certainly want to thank CBC National Bank, all of our sponsors and those who had worked hard to pull a great show together.”
Georgia Tech’s switch to playing its spring game on a Friday night in 2012 was a big success as more than 18,000 fans attended. Coach Paul Johnson will still try to get the team’s final scrimmage of the spring in on Friday night if at all possible, but a move to Saturday is not an option due to scheduling commitments for coaches, student-athletes and game personnel.
