GAME NOTES

  • Today was the 110th all-time meeting between Georgia Tech and Georgia with the overall series favoring UGA 65-40-5.
  • UGA also leads the series in Atlanta, 35-26-4. The game was just the third time since 1996 that neither team was ranked. 

TEAM NOTES

  • Georgia Tech trailed 7-0 at halftime, marking its first scoreless first half since Nov. 8, 2008 at North Carolina. Tech fell in that game 28-7. Tech’s last scoreless half was in 2011 at Miami (second half) — a 24-7 setback.
  • The Yellow Jackets were 0-for-5 on third downs in the first half, but converted their first two on the second half’s opening drive. Tech finished the second half 2-for-8 on third downs.
  • Georgia Tech has not been shut out in 237 consecutive games – the seventh-longest active streak dating back to Oct. 18, 1997.
  • Tech has not been shut out at home in 364 consecutive home games, dating back to Nov. 30, 1957. 

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • Redshirt freshman AB Clinton Lynch had a career day rushing, gaining 78 yards on eight carries. He averaged 9.8 yards per rush. He tied his career high with eight carries (vs. North Carolina), while besting his previous career high in rushing yards (67 vs. Pitt).
  • Junior AB Lynn Griffin finished with six carries for 45 yards.
  • True freshman LB Brant Mitchell registered his first career sack in the game.
  • Today marked the team-leading 27th consecutive start for junior LB P.J. Davis. Four other Yellow Jackets have started 26 straight – Trey Braun, Chris Milton, Justin Thomas and Freddie Burden.
  • Today’s game was the 54th career game for Jamal Golden, which Georgia Tech’s career record. It was the 53rd career games for Milton and Tyler Marcordes, and the 52nd for Demond Smith. The career record of 54 games played is held by Golden, Corey Dennis (2011-14), Rod Sweeting (2009-12) and T.J. Barnes (2009-12).
