General

> Athletic post player who showed great promise at various points in his career, but encountered some setbacks along the way … Good physical size, good post moves and defensive presence … Was not consistent enough to get regular minutes until his senior season … Provided solid defense in the post and ran the floor well … Able to play both the center and big forward positions.

> Dislocated his left kneecap in pre-season practice in the fall of 2003 and missed the first two months of his sophomore season … His mother passed away prior to his senior year, and missed one game due to academic issues.

2005-06

> Started 13 of 21 games beginning Dec. 10 vs. Tennessee State, primarily due to his superior defensive play during the early part of the season … Returned to the starting five at Florida State after a five-game absence (3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 blocked shots, 2 steals), then had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists against NC State.

> Tech was 7-5 in games he started, including his Senior Day outing against Wake Forest (four points, matched career high with six rebounds).

> Scored eight points (4-7 FG) and pulled six rebounds, both highs for an ACC game, had two assists and two blocked shots to help Tech defeat 11th-ranked Boston College on Jan. 8 … Also played well in the teams[apos] second meeting on Jan. 31 (7 points, 3-3 FG, 4 rebounds).

> Averaged 2.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and shot 50 percent from the floor in ACC regular-season games, the best numbers of his career … Had a team-high 20 blocked shots in conference games, and ranked eighth in the ACC in that category.

> As a starter, averaged 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds, hitting 46.3 percent from the floor … Off the bench, he averaged 2.3 points, 2.6 rebounds in 14.6 minutes, and made 54.5 percent of his shots from the floor.

> Scored a career-high 11 points (4-4 FG, 3-4 FT) vs. Jacksonville in December … Scored six points, with five rebounds and five blocks against Illinois-Chicago.

> His 35 blocks were second on the team and ninth-most in ACC … Made 49.2 percent of his field goals overall, best since his freshman year.

2004-05

> Played extremely well during Tech[apos]s preseason practices and exhibition games, earning additional minutes early in the year by playing both the big forward and center positions

> An injury to Jeremis Smith (who had the same injury Tarver suffered) forced him to play big forward behind Anthony McHenry for much of the season, while Ra[apos]Sean Dickey backed up Luke Schenscher at center … Struggled at times at the position, and endured a difficult stretch over the last half of the season in which he did not score a point after Jan. 27 and took only five rebounds.

> Did not play in four of Tech[apos]s last five regular season games, appeared briefly (9 total minutes) in all three ACC Tournament games and the first-round NCAA Tournament win over George Washington.

> Scored just two points (on free throws) and had no rebounds, but worked 18 solid minutes against Wake Forest at both center and big forward as Tech[apos]s post players all got into foul trouble.

> Had one of the best games of his career, and certainly his best of the season, against Virginia on Jan. 8 with six points (season-high) and five rebounds … Went 3-of-5 from the floor, had three offensive rebounds and a blocked shot. > Had a season-high six rebounds in the opener against Alabama State, a game in which he also blocked six shots … Scored five points with four boards against Michigan.

2003-04

> Limited to just 24 games and 8.8 minutes a game after a preseason knee injury sidelined him for all of November and December.

> Missed the first 13 games recovering from a dislocated left kneecap suffered in practice on Oct. 30, a week prior to the Jackets[apos] first exhibition game … Spent seven full weeks rehabilitating the knee, then returned to the court full-time for practice when Tech returned from Christmas break.

> Did not play his first game until Jan. 11 at North Carolina, and averaged 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds … Made just 36.4 percent of his field goals, and blocked 16 shots.

> Played probably his best game of the season in Tech[apos]s NCAA Tournament win over Nevada with six points, six rebounds and a blocked shot …. Went 3-for-4 from the field against the Wolf Pack … Played 10 minutes in Tech[apos]s first-round win over Northern Iowa and grabbed three rebounds … Averaged 1.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in the NCAA Tournament.

> Scored four points (1-2 FG, 2-2 FT) with a career-high six rebounds while playing 17 minutes against the Tar Heels … Matched that minutes total only once after that, scoring eight points at Virginia on Feb. 14 (2-2 FG, career-best 4-4 FT) while grabbing four rebounds and blocking one shot.

> Saw extended minutes in a few other games — at Wake Forest on Jan. 20 (13 minutes, 2 points, 3 rebounds), at Tennessee Feb. 7 (14 minutes, 2 points, 2 rebounds, career-high 2 assists) and at Clemson on Feb. 28 (11 minutes, 1 rebound, 1 steal).

> Played 10 or more minutes in three NCAA Tournament games, including 12 against Nevada and 11 against Connecticut (0 points, 2 rebounds).

> Played seven minutes in each of Tech[apos]s ACC Tournament games, contributing two points and a rebound against North Carolina and three points and two boards against Duke.

> Had three blocks, matching his career high for an ACC game, and two boards at Duke Mar. 3.

> One of the keys of Tech[apos]s late-season run as a freshman, when the Yellow Jackets won four of their final six games and reached the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament … Started all three NIT games, averaging 21 minutes, 6.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks while going 8-for-8 from the floor and 4-of-8 from the foul line.

2002-03

> Started all three of Tech[apos]s NIT games, averaging 21 minutes, 6.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks … Was a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor and went 4-of-8 from the foul line.

> Earned his first career start against Ohio State in the first round of the NIT and didn[apos]t disappoint, scoring nine points (3-3 FG) with four rebounds, three blocked shots and a steal in 20 minutes … Made his presence felt immediately with an offensive rebound on Tech[apos]s first offensive possession and a steal on the Buckeyes[apos] first possession … Scored eight (4-4 FG) at Iowa with three rebounds and a block; had three points and five rebounds at Texas Tech.

> In Tech[apos]s final six games of the season, averaged 5.2 points and 3.5 rebounds, had eight blocks and was 13-of-16 from the floor after not playing at all in the six games prior to that.

> Played in 18 games overall, averaging 2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds while hitting 61.3 percent of his shots from the floor … Had 19 blocks in 181 minutes, a rate of 4.2 blocks per 40 minutes that far exceeded that of Chris Bosh, who led the ACC in that category … Averages in ACC games: 1.3 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 0.8 blocks/g, 33.3% FG, 57.1% FT.

> Best outing prior to the Mar. 5 Virginia game was five points, three rebounds and four blocked shots in 13 minutes vs. Elon … Scored four points each against Gardner-Webb and Marist.
