AT TECH

Two-year team captain who played in more games (130) than any Yellow Jacket except Malcolm Mackey (also 130), and finished eighth in Tech history with 121 career starts … His 239 career three-point field goals were the fourth most in Tech history, and he finished his career 18th on the Jackets[apos] all-time scoring chart with 1,396 points … His career free throw rate of 84.0 percent is the fourth-best in Tech history, and his career three-point accuracy rate of 38.4 percent ranks eighth.

Also an outstanding student who earned the team[apos]s top student-athlete award in 2003, and was twice named to the ACC All-Academic team for men[apos]s basketball (2001, 2003) … Appeared three times on the annual ACC Academic Honor Roll … Made the Dean[apos]s List every semester at Tech except one summer term … Twice a recipient of the Tower Award (2001, 2003), given annually in recognition of academic achievement to minority students at Georgia Tech … Was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and spent time with Tech[apos]s academic services department as a Calculus tutor.

2003-04

Tech[apos]s top three-point percentage shooter in all games during season (39.8, 4th in the ACC) … Ranked fifth in the league in three-pointers per game in all games (2.16) and 23rd in scoring average (11.0).

In the NCAA Tournament: The hero of Tech[apos]s Sweet 16 victory over Nevada, in which he scored 23 points, helping the Jackets overcome injury to leading scorer B.J. Elder … Went 7-for-13 from the field, including 4-for-9 on three-pointers, and 5-for-6 from the line … Made five three-point field goals in the first half of Tech[apos]s national semifinal win over Oklahoma State … Tech[apos]s fourth-leading scorer in NCAA Tournament games, averaging 9.0 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Struggled with his scoring in Tech[apos]s three other NCAA Tournament games … Played good defense and rebounded well, particularly in the first two rounds … Held scoreless against Northern Iowa, but grabbed a team-high seven rebounds … Scored nine points against Boston College, six against Connecticut.

In ACC games only: 10.7 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 44.6% FG, 45.7% 3FG, 81.8% FT … Ranked 2nd in the ACC in three-point percentage in conference games only, 7th in three-pointers per game (2.31).

Averaged 16.0 points in Tech[apos]s final three regular season games, hitting 54.8 percent of his field goals and 12 of 22 three-point attempts (54.5 pct.) … Led Tech with 21 points, his season high for a conference game, on Senior Day against Florida State Mar. 6 (5-10 on threes) … Also led Tech with 18 points at Clemson Feb. 28 (7-14 FG and 4-9 threes) … Drained all three of his three-point attempts for nine points in Tech[apos]s win at Duke on Mar. 3.

Averaged 15.3 points in a four-game stretch in early February against Florida State, Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia, including his best performance of the season at Tennessee (Feb. 7), scoring a season-high 24 points while hitting 8 of 11 shots from the floor, and 5 of 6 from three-point range … In those four games, shot 54.1 percent (20-for-37) from the floor and 52 percent (13-for-25) from three-point range.

Had some of his better shooting efforts on the road in the ACC, making 48.7 percent of his three-point shots (44.8 percent overall) … Scored 14 points off the bench and hit all four three-point attempts (5-of-7 overall) in Tech[apos]s Jan. 20 victory at Wake Forest.

In Tech[apos]s wins, he averaged 12.0 points a game, shot 48.1 percent from the floor and 43.5 percent from three-point range … In Tech[apos]s losses, he averaged 8.1 ppg, shot 34.2 percent from the floor and 31.7 percent from three-point range.

Made at least one trey in 31 of Tech[apos]s 38 games … Drained five threes in a game five times (Tennessee, Hofstra, VCU, Florida State, Oklahoma State), and went 4-for-4 at Wake Forest on Jan. 20 and 3-for-3 at Duke Mar. 3.

2002-03

Had the best season of his career statistically … Ranked 17th in the ACC in scoring (12.2), ninth in three-point percentage (36.6) and sixth in three-pointers per game (2.03) … Shot 41.6 percent from the floor overall and 82.2 percent from the free throw line.

NIT averages: 9.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 29.6% FG, 29.4% 3FG, 75.0% FT … Scored 11 points (4-9 FG, 2-7 3FG) against Ohio State, 12 points (3-7 FG, 3-6 3FG) vs. Iowa … Averages in ACC games: 13.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.8 apg, 46.2% FG, 40.9% 3FG, 81.6% FT … Averages vs. ranked teams: 11.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.6 apg, 41.3% FG, 42.4% 3FG, 84.6% FT.

Scored 19 points Mar. 5 at Virginia (8-15 FG, 3-9 3FG), but closed the regular season with just five against Clemson (1-10 FG, 0-8 3FG) … Snapped a 10-game streak with at least one three … Despite that, shot better than 40 percent (40.9) vs. the ACC.

Had three games of 25 points or more, two against ACC foes (career-high 33 vs. FSU, 25 vs. Virginia) … Posted two of the top 11 scoring games in the ACC during the season with his 33-point effort against FSU and his 28 points in Tech[apos]s season opener with UAPB … Had 16 double-figure games altogether, seven in ACC games.

Enjoyed the best stretch of his career during five games from Dec. 29 vs. Maryland through the Florida State game on Jan. 14, in which he averaged 18.6 points, hit 32-of-50 field goal attempts (64 percent) and 18-of-30 three-point attempts (60 percent).

Breakout game vs. Florida State with a career-high 33 points … Made his first eight shots on the way to an 11-of-13 night, and made 6-of-8 three-point attempts … Then hit 5-of-6 free throws in the final 39 seconds to seal the win.

Made five threes in three other games this season (Cornell, Virginia, Wake Forest) … Also went without a three in six games, including three of Tech[apos]s final five games (5-of-29).

2001-02

Tech[apos]s second-leading scorer at 10.9 points per game, he and Tony Akins were the only players to start every game for the Yellow Jackets … One of the top three-point shooters in the league, hitting 39.1 percent … Did not have enough attempts to be listed among the ACC leaders … Second on the team with 41 steals and 56 assists, and fourth in rebounding at 3.9 per game.

One of the ACC[apos]s top marksmen from the foul line, hit 87.5 percent from the stripe … Would have ranked third in the ACC in free throw percentage, but also fell short of the league minimum … Hit 8-of-9 in Tech[apos]s first meeting with Clemson and had three games where he was 6-for-6 (Illinois, Davidson, Wofford).

In ACC games, he averaged 9.7 points and shot 37.8 percent from three-point range, as well as 84.6 percent from the line.

Made one of Tech[apos]s biggest plays of the season with his buzzer-beating three-pointer at Virginia … With Tech trailing by one, he took a pass from Tony Akins at the top of the key and fired a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Jackets an 82-80 victory over then-15th-ranked Cavaliers … That was his fifth three-pointer of the game as he went 5-for-6 and finished with 15 points and six rebounds.

Began the season with four straight double-digit games, including 20 against Penn and 21 against Eastern Illinois … Also scored 17 each against Georgia (5 three-pointers) and Syracuse … Top ACC games include 19 against Clemson and 18 against Florida State (5 three-pointers), both at home … Averaged 13.5 in two games against his home-state team, Maryland.

Handled the ball well, with just 50 turnovers in 31 games, and just six in Tech[apos]s last nine games.

2000-01

Named to the five-member ACC All-Freshman team as well as the ACC All-Academic team … Started every game except Senior Day and was Tech[apos]s fourth-leading scorer at 8.7 points per game … Third among ACC freshmen in scoring, rebounding and assists … Outstanding free throw shooter, hitting 86.8 percent … Strong rebounder for a perimeter player, averaging 4.5 per game, which was second on the Tech team to Alvin Jones.

Named ACC Rookie of the Week four times during the season … Earned the honor for consecutive weeks (Nov. 27 and Dec. 4) and also on Dec. 25 and Jan. 29 … Scored a career-high 22 points in Tech[apos]s 92-61 victory over Davidson, when he was 6-for-7 from three-point range and also contributed seven rebounds … Had a double-double in Tech[apos]s win at UCLA with 15 points and a season-best 10 rebounds … Sank two free throws with 21 seconds left to help seal Tech[apos]s 72-67 win over the Bruins and was named ACC Rookie of the Week … Also grabbed 10 rebounds in the season-opener against Wofford and at Duke … Had 17 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots in win over Harvard … Had 15 double-figure scoring efforts and three games with double-figure rebounds.

Highest scoring effort in an ACC game was 15 points in Tech[apos]s win over sixth-ranked Wake Forest … Had 13 points, including three treys and a crucial field goal late in the game, in Tech[apos]s 111-108 win over Clemson … Followed with 11 points and three steals in win over Florida State to earn his fourth ACC Rookie of the Week award … Added 14 points in the second meeting with Clemson … Scored 12 points with three three-pointers in Tech[apos]s victory over No. 13 Maryland.
