INDIANAPOLIS – For the second straight season, the Georgia Tech Softball team has been picked as a host site for a regional in the NCAA Tournament, announced tonight live on ESPNU. The Yellow Jackets (49-9) are the No. 8 national seed and will host the Atlanta Regional, May 21-23, at Mewborn Field along with Oregon, Auburn and Jacksonville State.

Every game from the Atlanta Regional will be televised live on the ESPN family of networks. Tech will open the tournament Friday night at 8 p.m. against fourth-seeded Jacksonville State on ESPN. No. 2 Oregon and No. 3 Auburn will play in the first game on Friday at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN2. All of the games on Saturday and Sunday will air on ESPN and every game from the Atlanta Regional will be available in High Definition and streamed online at ESPN3.com.

The Yellow Jackets watched the selection show on their bus via satellite television heading back from the ACC Tournament in Blacksburg, Va. Tech won its second straight ACC title with an 8-4 win over No. 24/25 Florida State earlier in the day. It was the fourth-ever tournament title for the Jackets.

The winner of the Atlanta Regional will meet the winner of the Colombia, Mo. regional in the Super Regionals, May 28-30. No. 9 Missouri hosts Creighton, DePaul and Illinois.

Oregon is the No. 2 seed in the Atlanta regional after finishing the season seventh in the Pac-10 Conference. The Ducks compiled a 33-19 regular season record and were 8-13 in conference. Tech is 0-2 all-time against Oregon.

Auburn makes its second straight trip to Atlanta for a NCAA Regional. The Tigers come in with a 31-24 record and finished third in the SEC West. Auburn was the seventh seed in the SEC Tournament. Tech is 5-4 all-time against Auburn including a 4-1 win in the NCAA Tournament last season.

Jacksonville State is 30-17 overall and won the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed. The Yellow Jackets hold a 5-0 lead in the series all-time against the Gamecocks.

Complete information on the Atlanta Regional including ticket prices will be posted on www.RamblinWreck.com throughout the week.

Georgia Tech is 16-16 (.500) all-time in NCAA Tournament play and 5-6 (.455) under two-time ACC Coach of the Year Sharon Perkins.
