THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech volleyball team (3-1) used seven service aces to sweep The Citadel (1-3) in the final match Saturday night of the GT Courtyard by Marriott Atlanta Midtown Invite.
How It Happened
Tech captured the opening set with a 25-13 victory punctuated with an 11-3 rally mainly behind the aggressive serving of London Ackermann, which kept The Citadel out of system. The Jackets carried that momentum into the second set, racing out to a 5-1 lead and winning 25-11. Tech held The Citadel to a .034 hitting clip in the third set to take the set and match, 25-12.
Quote
“I think we wanted to come out and set the tone right away, and carry it through three sets,” head coach Michelle Collier said. “I asked them to make this our best match of the tournament and make sure we’re consistent throughout the whole match, and I think we did a really good job of doing that. I’m really proud of their efforts tonight and how they were focused and determined to make that happen.”
