Saint-Amour to Play in NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech defensive end Anree Saint-Amour (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) has been selected to participate in the eighth-annual NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the world-famous Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET and the game will be televised nationally on FS1.

Saint-Amour becomes the first Georgia Tech defensive player and third Yellow Jacket overall to ever participate in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, which is one of college football’s premier all-star games. Running backs Orwin Smith (2013) and Patrick Skov (2015) previously represented Tech in the contest.

In addition to the nationally televised game, Saint-Amour will have the opportunity to impress National Football League coaches and front-office personnel that will attend practices throughout the week. Forty-two of last year’s NFLPA Collegiate Bowl received NFL Combine invitations and 19 were selected in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Saint-Amour, a 6-3, 245-pound edge rusher, led Georgia Tech with four sacks, 12 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles as a senior in 2018. His three forced fumbles were tied for 29th nationally. He also had two interceptions (one that he returned for a touchdown vs. Bowling Green on Sept. 29), making him one of only four NCAA Division I FBS defensive linemen with two INTs in ’18. He became only the 10th player in Georgia Tech history to force two fumbles in a single-game in the Jackets’ 66-31 rout at Louisville on Oct. 5.

Saint-Amour will play for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl’s American team, which is coached by former Indianapolis Colts head coach and newly named Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano. Saint-Amour’s American squad will face off against the National team, coached by former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice.
