2009 ACC Honor Roll

Hard-nosed, fiery and emotional player that can play multiple positions … Has a good approach at the plate with the ability to hit for power to all fields … Will serve as the primary DH in 2010 but could be relied on in an emergenccy role on the mound … May also see time as a backup at catcher due to lack of depth at that position. Named to the 2009 ACC Honor Roll.

2009
Played in the field in 42 games this season, making 27 starts … Served as a DH on 15 occasions, started in left field three times and as the Jackets[apos] starting second baseman nine times … Made 11 appearances out of the bullpen, six of which were scoreless outings … Hit .290 with six doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI … Batted .348 clip while in the lineup as the DH … Struck out 13 batters in 11.2 innings pitched … Had one save on the year … Allowed just one run in his last five outings, and giving up just three hits in that 6.1 innings span … Hit a walk-off, two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to lift Georgia Tech to a 5-3 win over Lipscomb (2/22) in a series finale on opening weekend … Went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI against the Bisons in that game … Went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and RBI single against Maryland (3/7) … Reached base four times in Tech[apos]s 9-5 loss to Virginia Tech (3/21) with a single and three walks … Went 2-for-3 with a two-run double at Georgia State (4/15) … Had a pinch-hit RBI-double in the NCAA Regional final against Southern Miss.(6/1) … As a pitcher, struck out one against Lipscomb (2/20) in his first appearance on the mound since high school … Tossed a scoreless inning in relief against No. 2 Miami, recording a pair of strikeouts … Closed out Tech[apos]s 16-2 win over Presbyterian with a scoreless inning in relief against the Blue Hose (5/1) … Pitched a career-high four innings of relief giving up just one run on two hits with three strikeouts in a 10-3 win over Southern Miss. (5/31) at the NCAA Atlanta Regional … Recorded the first-career save in the outing.

Started 45 games at second base and four more as the DH in his first season on the Flats … Played in 56 of the Yellow Jackets[apos] 62 games … Hit .283 with 24 of his 52 hits going for extra bases … Had 15 doubles and seven home runs … Posted 12 multi-hit and 12 multi-RBI games … First four hits of his career were a triple (vs. Youngstown State, 2/22), single and double (vs. Youngstown State, 2/24) and home run (vs. Georgia Southern, 2/26) … Collected the cycle over a six at-bat span to open the season … Went 2-for-4 with a two-run double against Kennesaw State (3/18) … Scored four of the Yellow Jackets[apos] five runs against East Tennessee State (4/2) … Drove in two runs with a pair of doubles against North Carolina (4/6) … Doubled and tripled in Tech[apos]s 9-4 win over Georgia (4/9) … Went 2-for-3 with a double at Georgia Southern (4/16) … Had a pair of doubles in the series opener at Maryland (4/18) … Hit a pair of solo home runs at Mercer (4/22) … Went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and a run-scoring double against Wake Forest (4/26) … Also hit a two-run home run against the Demon Deacons in the series finale (4/27) … Belted a home run in his third-straight game with a two-run homer against Coastal Carolina (5/2) in the series opener … Hit a two-run home run against Clemson (5/24) in the ACC Championships.

High School
Four-year letterwinner for coach Rob Williams at Lee County High School … Led Lee County to region championships in 2005 and 2007, a pair of state semifinal finishes, as well as a state championship appearance … Named the MVP of the Lee County team in 2006 and 2007 … Tabbed the All-Area Player of the Year in 2007 … Two-year member of Team Georgia … Named to the Georgia Dugout Club[apos]s top-80 and top-20 teams … Hit .463 with six home runs as a senior at Lee County … Also went 12-2 with nine complete games in 2007 … Three-year letterwinner for basketball coach Greg Freeman and also lettered one year in football.
