Awards and Honors
As a Sophomore (2023): Played in all 20 games, starting in five of them at second base … Started the first four games of the season at first base before later lining up as DP … Appeared mostly as a pinch hitter … Picked up five hits for an RBI and two runs scored while drawing four walks on the season … Batted and slugged .185 with a .290 on-base percentage … Maintained a flawless fielding percentage … Started off the season on a three-game hitting streak against UConn (twice) and Saint Francis … Registered an RBI in the third game of the streak as the Jackets defeated the Red Flash, 7-0 (Feb. 12) … Also recorded a hit in a 1-0 win over Southern Miss (March 4) and against Clemson (March 25) as she advanced home in the latter contest.
As a Freshman (2022): Appeared in eight games as a pinch hitter … Batted .250 on the year, totaling two hits for two RBI with a walk on the season … Finished with a .333 on-base percentage and a .250 slugging percentage … Earned her first career hit in a 12-inning marathon against Florida State (March 11), going 1-for-2 … Picked up her first career RBI with a bases-loaded walk in a 9-1, mercy-rule victory over Dartmouth (March 22) … Also swatted an RBI single in a 9-1, mercy-rule victory over NC State (April 15).
High School: Comes to The Flats from Pope High School, where she helped lead them to a state championship in 2019 and regional titles in all four seasons (2017-2020). Named all-state (2018, 2019), all-region (2018, 2019, 2020) and all-county (2018, 2019), Chapin is also Pope High School’s career home run leader. She ranks No. 64 nationally in the Extra Inning Softball 2021 Extra Elite 100, where she was also tabbed the No. 50 infielder in the country. A member of the National Honors Society for science, math and social studies, Chapin intends to major in biology at Georgia Tech.
