Rogers, Silverio and Song Named Wendy's Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

April 4, 2005

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech standouts Dana Rogers, Alison Silverio and Chan Song were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, April 4, 2005.

Rogers, a senior from East Point, Georgia, posted a pair of NCAA East Region qualifying times in the 100-meter high hurdles and 4×100-meter relay at last weekend’s Yellow Jacket Invitational. Rogers clocked a personal-record time of 13.27 in the 100m HH to finish in first place. She then led off the 4x100m relay team and helped log a third-place finish with a season-best time of 44.45. The senior hurdler also ran a season-best time of 11.91 in the 100-meter dash.

Silverio, a sophomore from Louisville, Ohio, helped Georgia Tech improve to 13-2 on the season with the Yellow Jackets’ two wins over Virginia and Maryland last weekend. She posted 2-0 records in both singles and doubles, including clinching the 5-2 match against Maryland Sunday with a three-set victory at No. 4 singles and also teamed with Kristi Miller at No. 1 doubles to defeat the nation’s 22nd ranked doubles team from Maryland. She has helped the Yellow Jackets to a school-best six ACC wins this season and the best ranking in school history.

Song, a senior from Orlando, Fla., finished in a tie for third, the best individual finish of his career, at the Hootie at Bull Bay Tournament last week. Song posted a score of 66-73-73–212 to tie with John Holmes of Kentucky at four-under, followed by Matt Kohn of Kentucky at 215 and a group of three players at even-par 216. His performance helped place the Yellow Jackets into a sixth place finish as a team.
