ATLANTA-Tech baseball standout Clifton Remole and softball star Tara Knudsen were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, May 17, 2004.
Remole, a junior from Marietta, Ga., hit .600 (9-for-15) with six RBI to lead Georgia Tech to a perfect 4-0 record against No. 12 Georgia and No. 20 Clemson. On Tuesday against Georgia, Remole went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Tech’s 12-5 win at Turner Field in front of the second-largest crowd to ever watch a college baseball game (28,836). Remole went 6-for-11 in Tech’s sweep of Clemson, including a 3-for-4 performance on Saturday. He had at least one RBI in each of the four games on the week. Remole has helped Tech extend its current winning streak to 13 games, including a school-record 13 straight wins against ACC opponents.
Knudsen, a senior from Thorton, Colo., hit .500 at the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament down in Tallahassee, Florida. She was named ACC All-Tournament Team. Knudsen drove in a tournament leading five RBI and led Tech to its third ACC Championship appearance in school history. She had a .688 slugging percentage and .579 on-base percentage. Knudsen led tournament with four stolen bases. She hit a solo home run in Tech’s quarterfinal win over Maryland.
