CollegeSwimming Swimmers of the Week
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech freshman swimmer Caio Pumputis was named the men’s ACC Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com it was announced today.
In the Yellow Jackets’ sweep of Pittsburgh in the season opener last Friday afternoon, his first intercollegiate event, Pumputis paced the Yellow Jackets with a total of three first-place wins and recorded two NCAA B qualifying marks in the ACC dual meet.
Pumputis’ wins came in the 200 breast, the 200 IM and as the last leg of the first-place 400 free relay team. His 200 breast time of 1:58.34 ranks first in the NCAA and in the ACC, while his 200 IM time of 1:49.11 also ranks first in the ACC and third nationally.
The freshman from São Paulo, Brazil ranks second in the ACC and sixth nationally in the 200 free with his time of 1:37.50.
The selections were made on the basis of swims through October 8, 2017.
