#ProJackets Basketball Update

Nov. 5, 2015

THE FLATS – In the first regular-season edition of NBA #Projackets, Tech’s three post players put up the biggest numbers. Derrick Favors leads his Utah Jazz in scoring while fellow forwards Chris Bosh and Thaddeus Young have each averaged double-figures. Check out how each NBA #ProJacket performed in the Association’s opening week.

Chris Bosh – In his first regular season action since a nearly fatal blood clot scare, Chris Bosh has picked up right where he left off. The 12-year veteran is averaging just one rebound shy of a double-double (14.0 ppg, 9.3 rpg) through Miami’s first four games. Bosh’s top performance to date came against Charlotte in the season opener in which he scored 21 points going 9-for-10 from the line and pulled down 10 rebounds. The Heat hit the road tonight and tomorrow traveling to Minnesota and Indiana for a challenging back-to-back.

Chris Bosh has always been known to have diverse interests since majoring in Computer Science at Georgia Tech. Fans recently got a sneak peek into another one of his hobbies and can read about it here.

Derrick Favors – In Utah’s first three games Derrick Favors scored totals of 26, 20 and 18. In last night’s home opener Favors was listed as questionable with flu-like symptoms and managed just six points in a season-low 24 minutes. Despite his limited performance against Portland, Favors still leads the team in scoring (17.5 ppg) and steals per game (2.8) while ranking second in rebounding (8.8 rpg). The Salt Lake Tribune examined Favors hot start earlier this week. The Jazz continue their heavy road stretch tonight against division-rival Denver.

Jarrett Jack – In four starts for Brooklyn, Jarrett Jack has averaged 12 points and a team-best 6.3 assists per game. Jack’s best performance came against the Memphis Grizzlies in which scored 15 points and added nine dimes. The Nets search for the first win of the season tomorrow night against the Lakers.

Although Jack is most commonly known for his prowess as the Nets floor general, off the floor Jack owns one of the NBA’s vastest shoe collections. Take a look here.

Anthony Morrow – During Oklahoma City’s season-opening three-game win streak, Anthony Morrow saw double-digit minutes of the bench while shooting over 45% from beyond the arc. Since then Morrow has been held scoreless in the Thunder’s last two losses and has seen just a combined 11 minutes of playing time. Morrow and the Thunder face the Bulls in Chicago tonight on national television. Tip is at 8 p.m. on TNT.

Iman ShumpertIman Shumpert is still sidelined from the wrist surgery he underwent a month ago. His estimated return to the Cavaliers is sometime around New Year’s Day.

Thaddeus Young – Through Brooklyn’s first five games, Thaddeus Young has averaged 11.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while shooting over 50% from the field. Young posted his first double-double of the season last night in his return to Atlanta scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 boards in a loss. The Nets host the Lakers tomorrow night before beginning a four-game west coast road trip on Saturday.

In other news, Thaddeus Young and his family were recently profiled in their trip to the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Check out the pictures here.
