Georgia Tech freshmen Kevin King and Dusan Miljevic advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2008 Holiday Tennis Classic Sunday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
The pair gives Tech two players in the quarterfinals of the classic for the first time in the tournament’s 10-year existence.
After a pair of two-set victories on Saturday, Miljevic continued his hot hand with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over fifth-seeded Martin Steigwardt Sunday afternoon. He will face the tournament’s top-seed and defending singles champion Raian Luchici on Monday at 11 a.m.
King however, took a more dramatic route to the quarters’. After receiving a first round bye, the Peachtree City native won a pair of three-set thrillers, including a 4-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(1) win over Damon Martin. King will face former Clemson All-American Jermaine Jenkins on Monday at 11 a.m.
The Holiday Tennis Classic, which takes place at the Bill Moore Tennis Center, pits some of the region’s top junior, collegiate and professional tennis talent against each other. The tournament runs until Wednesday, Dec. 31.
