THE FLATS – After spending four years at Ole Miss and earning his bachelor’s degree there, Demarco Cox elected to play his final season of college basketball at Georgia Tech while studying in the building construction and facility management program.
He has exceeded his cumulative production as Ole Miss on most all fronts, starting all but one game this season and clocking in as Tech’s third-leading scorer (8.8 ppg) and rebounder (6.0 rpg). He has reached double digits in 15 games this season (nine vs. ACC teams), surpassing his total of five in 102 career games at Ole Miss.
Cox has scored in double digits in seven of Tech’s last 11 games, 14 points and six rebounds in Tech’s final regular-season game against North Carolina. He posted his second double-double against an ACC team with 11 points (5-6 FG) and a season-high 11 rebounds against Louisville.
He has been No. 1 or 2 on the team in field goal percentage (currently 2nd at 51.1 pct.) and leads team in blocked shots (27).
