No. 5 Tech Sells Out Top-10 Weekend at Georgia Tech Classic

THE FLATS – No. 5 Georgia Tech volleyball (5-0) has sold out tickets for both of this weekend’s top-10 matchups against No. 10 BYU (5-1) on Thursday at 7 p.m. and No. 8 Ohio State (1-3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. as part of the Georgia Tech Classic in O’Keefe Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets sold out all three of their home-opening tournament matches in the GT Invitational last weekend, bringing the total to five sellouts on the season.

Although general admission tickets for the tournament matches have been sold out, 200 tickets remain available for Georgia Tech students with free admission at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. A valid BuzzCard must be displayed in order for students to receive a ticket to the match.

The Yellow Jackets will wrap up their five-match homestand following an unbeaten run through the GT Invitational. Tech swept both Dayton and FIU to bookend its tournament play while also coming away with a 3-1 win over Arizona State. The Jackets claimed their own tournament crown as senior outside hitter Julia Bergmann was named MVP while sophomore outside hitter Bianca Bertolino and senior middle blocker Erin Moss joined Bergmann on the all-tournament team. Bergmann has also been tabbed ACC Player of the Week for both of the first two weeks of the season after piling up 47 kills at a .392 clip, 23 digs, nine blocks (one solo, eight assisted) and five aces last weekend.

As a unit, the nation’s No. 5 squad for the second consecutive week is currently top five in the ACC in hitting percentage (.293), blocks per set (2.41) and aces per set (1.82). Individually, Bergmann currently leads the nation in points per set (6.32) and is second in the country in kills per set (5.41).

Tech has won 63 of its last 75 matches dating back to 2019. The Yellow Jackets have also won 38 of their last 43 matches at home in O’Keefe Gymnasium.

The Yellow Jackets have built a tradition of playing in front of sellout crowds after selling out nine of their final 10 regular season matches along with both the first and second rounds of NCAA tournament matches hosted on The Flats in 2021.
