NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Georgia Tech women’s tennis opens the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 1 p.m. facing No. 25 Ohio State in the first round.
THE SCENE: Georgia Tech makes its 20th-straight NCAA appearance on Friday. First serve against the Buckeyes is slated for 1 p.m. with host Vanderbilt facing Miami (Ohio) at 3 p.m. following the conclusion of the first match. The winners will face off in second round action on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Jackets and Buckeyes will meet for the second time this season as the foes met in the first dual match of the campaign for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Ohio State captured the decision, 4-0. This will mark the eighth meeting in program history between Tech and Ohio State.
Last season, Tech advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Vanderbilt. Ohio State is making its sixth-straight NCAA Tournament and 16th appearance overall.
ITA RANKINGS: Georgia Tech dropped to No. 41 in the latest ITA national rankings released. Ohio State remained at No. 25, while Vanderbilt stands at No. 8. Below are the individual rankings:
