DALLAS – The Georgia Tech volleyball team (2-3) fell 3-0 (18-25, 18-25, 23-25) against No. 24 Oklahoma (4-1) Saturday at the SMU Tournament held in Moody Coliseum.
Sophomore Teegan Van Gunst and senior Courtney Felinski led Georgia Tech with nine kills each, while freshman Sydney Wilson and sophomore Annika Van Gunst each had five.
Sophomores London Ackermann and Rebecca Martin held down the back row with eight and seven digs, respectively. Senior Ashtaan Horton recorded five block assists and Wilson contributed three as Tech’s first line of defense at the net.
The match featured 22 tied scores and 13 lead changes at the Jackets battled the Sooners throughout the match. The third set was especially close with 12 tied scores and nine lead changes.
Kills were even at 14 in the third set and the Jackets capitalized on four Sooner serving errors. Tied 20-20, the Sooners used the momentum from three-straight points, 23-20, to capture the set and the match.
The Yellow Jackets wrap up the SMU Tournament on Saturday against Texas Southern at 5:30 p.m. ET.
