THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving begins the new year on the road when it travels to Auburn to take on the Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. ET at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center.
The Yellow Jackets haven’t competed in a true scoring competition since Nov. 15-17 for its home invitational. Tech did participate in the FAU Fun Invitational in Florida during its Winter Training in Fort Lauderdale, but the event was non-scoring.
In a similar boat, Auburn hasn’t competed since it took on Alabama on Dec. 7.
Georgia Tech’s men’s swimming and diving team continues to hold steadfast through the holidays at No. 20 in the country, with the next ranking due on Jan. 23. The Tigers’ women’s program is ranked No. 17 nationally after a five-spot drop in the Dec. 5 poll. Both Georgia Tech women and Auburn men are unranked.
Saturday’s meet will be the second time this season that the Yellow Jackets and Auburn have squared off. Auburn attended the GT Invitational in November and fared well. Auburn’s women’s team finished third, while its men placed sixth. Georgia Tech’s men finished third while its women finished eighth.
