ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s second-ranked women’s tennis team will square off against No. 24 Clemson Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for both schools.
The Yellow Jackets (7-2) are coming off a 4-3 loss to then-No. 4 Georgia last weekend while the Tigers enter the match with a 4-6 record following a 7-0 sweep of South Carolina last Saturday.
Clemson will be the sixth top-25 team the Yellow Jackets face this season, while eight of Georgia Tech’s nine matches have been against teams ranked in the top-30.
Clemson is the last ACC school to record a win against the Yellow Jackets. They did so in the conference opener for both schools last season before Georgia Tech went on a 21-match winning streak to close out the year.
Georgia Tech is just 6-22 against the Tigers, but has won three of the last four matches between the two schools.
Two Yellow Jackets – Kristi Miller and Amanda McDowell – have already notched 20 singles wins this season while three others – Kirsten Flower (17), Maya Johansson (18), and Whitney McCray (16) have posted at least 15 singles wins in 2008.
