No. 13 Yellow Jackets Open ACC Slate

THE FLATS – No. 13 Georgia Tech volleyball (7-2) will return home to begin conference play, hosting ACC foes Wake Forest (8-3) on Friday at 7 p.m. and Virginia Tech (7-4) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in O’Keefe Gymnasium.

Parking

For Friday’s match against Wake Forest, free parking will be available in the McCamish Pavilion lot, the East O’Keefe Gymnasium lot and the Family Housing lot.

For Sunday’s contest against Virginia Tech, free parking will be available in the Family Housing Deck. All other standard volleyball parking areas will be reserved for the Súper Clásico between Club America and Chivas Guadalajara on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Georgia Tech’s radio broadcast for home matches throughout the season will be streamed online HERE.

Promotions

Friday will be recognized as Athletic Staff Appreciation Day. Members of the Georgia Tech athletics staff will have an opportunity to grab a Georgia Tech pint glass following the match while supplies last.

Storylines

  • Senior outside hitter Julia Bergmann currently leads the nation in kills per set (5.52) and points per set (6.19).
  • Bergmann is up to five 20+ kill outings this season, three of which have come against ranked opponents.
  • Bergmann picked up her third double double with a match-high 22 kills combined with 11 digs against then No. 24 Arkansas in the first match last weekend. The decorated outside hitter followed with 16 more kills, leading the match and tying for the fourth-highest tally in a three-set match amongst the ACC this season in Tech’s rivalry sweep over Georgia (for the second consecutive season) to wrap up the weekend.
  • The Jackets were ranked No. 13 in this week’s AVCA DI Coaches Preseason Poll.
  • Tech’s selection marks the 13th consecutive appearance in the AVCA’s top 15, beginning with a No. 13 ranking last season on Oct. 18, 2021.
  • The Yellow Jackets have been listed in 43 straight top 25 polls to date.
  • As a unit, the nation’s No. 13 squad is currently third in the ACC in assists per set (12.45) while ranking top five in the league in hitting percentage (.258) and kills per set (13.55).
  • Going beyond 2019’s NIVC title, Tech has won 65 of its last 79 matches.
  • Over the course of the past four seasons, Georgia Tech is 39-6 at home in O’Keefe Gymnasium. Tech is 298-103 (.744) all time in O’Keefe Gymnasium’s 28-year history.

Series History

  • Tech holds a 38-12 lead over Wake Forest in the all-time series, including a 12-match win streak from 2000-05. The Jackets have swept the last four meetings, owning a 20-5 home record and 18-6 road record against the Demon Deacons.
  • Georgia Tech currently leads Virginia Tech 18-10 in the all-time series. The Jackets have claimed seven of the last eight matchups since 2015, including three straight road sweeps in each of the most recent contests. The Yellow Jackets are 8-3 at home and 10-6 on the road against the Hokies.

Georgia Tech will take its first conference road trip, heading to Notre Dame on Sept. 30 for a 7 p.m. contest in South Bend, Ind. before closing out the weekend at No. 2 Louisville on Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. in Louisville, Ky.
