Nikita Kirillov To Compete At IAAF World Junior Championships

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech pole vaulter Nikita Kirillov will compete for Team USA in the finals at the IAAF World Junior Championships Thursday in Barcelona, Spain.

The 19-year-old Kirillov qualified for the final round after setting a personal record, school record and US Junior meet record en route to a first-place finish with a vault of 5.54m (18-2) at the USA Junior meet.

Kirillov recorded a USA Junior meet record, breaking Lawrence Johnson’s nearly 20-year-old record of 5.51m (18-1) that stood since 1993.
