Georgia Tech guard Anthony Morrow was named ACC Player of the Week after leading the Yellow Jackets to a pair of victories over Vanderbilt and 11th-ranked Boston College.
Morrow averaged 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the two wins.
The Charlotte, N.C. sophomore had a career-high 28 points, a career-high nine rebounds and four assists in Tech’s 76-67 win over Vanderbilt last Tuesday.
On Sunday, the 6-5 Morrow had 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in the Yellow Jackets’ 60-58 win over the Eagles Sunday night. Perhaps his biggest play of the game was his pass to a wide open Zam Fredrick, who knocked down the game-winning three-pointer with 33 seconds left.
For the week, Morrow made 15-of-29 shots from the floor and 6 of 13 three-point tries as Tech improved to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the ACC. He had three steals in the two games and just five turnovers in 71 minutes.
For the season, Morrow is the sixth-leading scorer in the conference, averaging 17.3 points per game. His 46.6 percent accuracy rate from three-point range leads the league.
Tech, which has won five of its last six games, returns to action Tuesday night with a non-conference game at Centenary (8 p.m., WQXI 790 the Zone, WREK 91.1 FM)
