Miller & Flower Fall in Quarterfinals at ITA National Indoors

Nov. 3, 2006

COLUMBUS, OH – Kristi Miller and Kirsten Flower captured second-round victories in the singles draw at the ITA National Indoor Championships, but were unable to advance past the quarterfinals, as both dropped straight-set decisions in Friday afternoon’s competition.

Miller, the No. 3 seed, posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Tennessee’s Blakeley Griffith in the Round of 16 Friday morning, but dropped a 6-0, 6-3 match to Fresno Pacific’s Jelena Pandzic, the No. 6 seed in the tournament in the evening session.

Flower knocked off 72nd-ranked Shadisha Robinson in the Round of 16, 6-3, 6-1, but couldn’t overcome the strong play of fourth-seeded and 19th-ranked Melanie Gloria of Fresno State, falling 6-4, 6-3 to end her ITA National Indoors run.

The Yellow Jacket’s 20th-ranked duo of Miller and senior Alison Silverio concluded their play in the doubles portion of the ITA National Indoor Championships when they fell to the Northwestern’s third-ranked tandem of Georgia Rose and Alexis Prousis, 8-3, to start the day’s competition.
