ATLANTA – – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (2-0) hits the road for a non-conference matchup at South Carolina (2-0) Saturday in Columbia, S.C. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. at the USC Indoor Field House.

“South Carolina is always a tough SEC team and we have had some great matches with them in the past,” head coach Kenny Thorne said. “However, we are focused on ourselves and executing our game-plan. We have been training hard and are excited about the tough schedule that we have before us.”

The two teams will meet for the 36th time Saturday, with USC holding a 26-8-1 advantage. Tech defeated the Gamecocks 5-2 in the last meeting between the two just one year ago. Sophomores Eliot Potvin, Guillermo Gomez and Ryan Smith all picked up singles victories in the win, while the Jackets swept doubles play.

Tech is coming off a solid home-opening doubleheader sweep over USC Upstate and Wofford last Sunday. Freshman Kevin King, who played at the No. 1 singles position, picked up two singles wins as well as two doubles wins with partner Doug Kenny.
