Men's Tennis Improves in Second Day of Competition at Mexico Invitational

Georgia Tech men’s tennis team got victories from George Gvelesiani and Marko Rajevac in singles action while Jordan Delass and Gvelesiani teamed up to claim the only win in doubles for the Jackets in their second day of competition at the Mexico Invitational.

Gvelesiani claimed his second win in the singles competition by defeating Illinois’ Brandon Davis 7-5, 6-4. Marko Rajevac also posted a 7-6(5), 6-3 victory over John Pettit of California. Three other Jackets competed in the singles draw, including Jordan Delass who fell in straight sets to No. 99 Ryan Rowe of Illinois (6-0, 6-0), David North who lost 6-3, 6-2 to No. 7 Ryler DeHeart of Illinois, and Zach Rath who was defeated by California’s Ken Nakahara 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles play, Delass and Gvelesiani posted a 8-6 win for the Jackets against Brandon Davis and Pramod Dabir (#26) of Illinois. Rath and Scott Blackmon lost to Ryan Rowe and Ryler DeHeart of Illinois 8-4 while Rajevac and David North fell to Ruben Gonzales and Kevin Anderson of Illinois 8-5.

The Jackets will be back in action at the Mexico Invitational throughout the weekend.
