Men's Tennis Hosts Middle Tennessee State Monday

Feb. 15, 2004

Off to a 4-0 start, the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will host Middle Tennessee State (2-3) Monday at 2:30 p.m. on the courts of the Bill Moore Tennis Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets in singles will most likely by Scott Schnugg, Joao Menano, West Nott Jason Pieters, Jose Muguruza and Marko Rajevac, all of whom have not dropped a singles match this season.

In doubles, the tandem of Schnugg and Muguruza, who are ranked No. 27 in the latest ITA poll, could play at the No. 1 spot while a combination of Menano, Nott, Pieters and Rajevac might be seen at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

“We are to a good start this year, but this match is important to us and will be a good indication of where we are. Middle Tennessee State is a good program and always is very strong at the top of their lineup,” said head coach Kenny Thorne. “We will have our work cut out for us and will have to be intense right from the start in order to win.”

Following Monday’s match, the Yellow Jackets will travel to Champaign, Ill. and take on No. 1 Illinois Friday afternoon.
