After dropping a tough match to Georgia earlier this week, the Georgia Tech (10-5) men’s tennis hosts Furman (4-8) Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
The Jackets lead in the series between the two schools, 18-3, including a tough 5-2 win last season against the Paladins.
“After a tough loss this week to Georgia, our team is excited to get back on the courts to try and get back on a winning track,” said head coach Kenny Thorne. “Furman is a solid program and every time we play them it’s a very tough match for our team. Their record is very deceiving because they play a tough schedule with a number of ranked teams and I’m sure they will play their very best against us. I’m hoping that our team will bear down and play a good match.”
To date, the Jackets have been led by West Nott and Scottt Schnugg, who have a team-best 10 wins on the season in dual match play. In addition, Jose Luis Muguruza is ranked No. 78 in singles action in the latest ITA rankings and has a 5-3 record in singles this spring. On the doubles side, the tandem of Schnugg and Marko Rajevac own a 10-5 record at No. 1 doubles and are currently ranked No. 15 in the ITA rankings.
