Men's Tennis Hosts Double-Header Saturday

Feb. 6, 2004

The Georgia Tech (1-0) men’s tennis team will host a double-header Saturday hosting Chattanooga (1-2) at 10 a.m. followed by a 3 p.m. contest against Emory University on the indoor courts of the Bill Moore Tennis Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets in singles will most likely by Scott Schnugg, Joao Menano, West Nott Jason Pieters, Jose Muguruza and Marko Rajevac, all of whom had wins last weekend against Georgia Southern.

In doubles, the tandem of Schnugg and Muguruza, who are ranked No. 27 in the latest ITA poll, will play at the No. 1 spot while a combination of Menano, Nott, Pieters and Rajevac could be seen at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

“Obviously with two matches we’ll have a chance to play a lot of tennis,” said head coach Kenny Thorne. “But, this is no different than tournaments that we play in and our guys need to get a feel for playing more than one match in a day.”

Following Saturday’s match, the Yellow Jackets will return to action on Feb. 12 when they host cross-town rival Georgia State at 2:30 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
