THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis closed out the ITA Southeast Regionals on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Cole Gromley grabbed his fifth-straight victory of the tournament, defeating University of Florida’s McClain Kessler, 6-2, 6-1. He advanced to the round of 16 where he took on Miami’s Bojan Jankulovski, but fell 6-2, 7-5.
The Jackets kept the momentum going as Andrew Li won in straight sets over Florida State’s Chase Wood, 6-4, 6-0. In the round of 16, Li retired 6-2, 1-0 due to injury versus Florida’s Andy Andrade.
Phillip Gresk fell in the round of 32 after three hard fought sets (7-5,1-6,6-4) against Florida State’s Richard Thongoana.
Brandon Freestone was also eliminated in the second round falling to North Florida’s Dominik Barton, 7-6, 6-2.
The Jackets are back in action Nov. 1-3 as they host the Georgia Tech Invitational for their last tournament of the fall slate.
