Meet the 2013 GT Volleyball Freshmen - Annika Van Gunst

Five newcomers join the Georgia Tech volleyball roster in 2013 and RamblinWreck.com wraps up the five-day series with our fifth and final freshman.

Today, we focus on 6’0 middle blocker/right side hitter Annika Van Gunst.  The Fayetteville, Ga., native was a four-year letterwinner at Whitewater High School. She led the team to four region championships and helped the team win two 5A state championships in 2009 and 2012. Van Gunst played in 120 games with 427 kills, 60 aces, 102.5 blocks and 298 digs in her senior season. She also played four years of soccer as a defender, and was named to the All-Area soccer team twice (2011, 2012) and selected to the 2012 All-State team. Most people don’t know this about me, but I:
Am a twin and we’re genetically missing the same tooth.

The App I use the most is:
Solitaire.

I can’t image going a week without:
Food.

The sport I’m the worst at is:
Golf.

If I didn’t play volleyball, I’d play:
Soccer.

I can’t miss a TV episode of:

NCIS.

I have to admit, I’m really good at:
Ping pong.

My career aspiration is:
To become a professional volleyball player or trainer.

My favorite singer and type of music is:
Country – Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.

I chose Georgia Tech because:
The academics are rigorous and it’s super close to home.
