GREENSBORO, N.C. – In a preseason poll of media attending the 2013 ACC Football Kickoff at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C., the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were picked fourth in the Coastal Division.
A year removed from playing in the Dr Pepper ACC Championship Game and beating USC in the Hyundai Sun Bowl, Tech racked up six first-place votes in the Coastal Division race, and was one of six schools receiving votes to win the 2013 ACC title.
Clemson, which the Jackets play on the road Thursday night November 14 on ESPN, was the preseason pick to win the ACC championship with 95 first-place votes. Miami was favored to win the Coastal Division, followed by Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Virginia and Duke.
Clemson QB Tajh Boyd was an overwhelming favorite as the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason player of the year, receiving 105 of the 120 votes cast. Senior DE Jeremiah Attaochu also received votes as the preseason player of the year.
