Dec. 6, 2011

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After completing her junior season, Monique Mead has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-East Region Team. This is the second AVCA postseason honor for the Tech captain who earned the nod last season.

Mead earned honorable mention honors in her freshman year.

Mead has accumulated 588 kills this season for a 5.03 kills/set average which leads the ACC and is second in the nation. She has also tallied 5.70 points/set which is also atop the ACC and second in the country.

In 2011, Mead recorded 11 double-doubles, 14 matches with at least 20 kills, and netted double figure kills in every match. She also averaged 2.56 digs/set and 0.79 blocks.

In the final game of her junior season she moved into second place on the single season kills list passing Lynette Moster’s 585 kills recorded in 2004. Mead also cracked the top-10 in the career kills category at NC State and at the end of the season sits in eighth place with 1,459 total kills during her three year career on the Flats.
