ATHENS, Ga. – Day two of the Bulldog Classic saw the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team play two rounds of doubles competition and one round of singles action against Georgia State. Senior Rasheeda McAdoo and junior Johnnise Renaud remain perfect through two days of competition in both singles and doubles play.
Tech opened Saturday facing Georgia in doubles play followed by Texas Tech also in doubles play. Through the two sets of doubles competition, the Yellow Jackets went 3-3. McAdoo/Renaud took both doubles matches. After opening the morning with a 6-2 victory over Georgia’s Brinson/Shaffer, the duo grabbed a 6-4 triumph over Texas Tech’s Dvorak/Valenstein. Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer and Kenya Jones picked up a doubles win over Texas Tech’s Kiro/Costina-Pou, 7-5, after falling to Georgia in the morning.
In singles play, the Yellow Jackets swept Georgia State with five matches coming in straight set victories. Renaud crushed Rehse, 6-0, 6-3, while McAdoo also remained undefeated on the weekend with a 6-2, 6-2 rout of Ramirez. Jones dropped just two games en route to a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Kamoe, while classmate Nadia Gizdova notched a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Vovk. Nami Otsuka handled MuminoviĆ, 6-1, 6-1, to pick up her singles win. Play rounded out with Anton-Ohlmeyer bouncing back from a first set loss to defeat Grosheva 2-6, 6-1, 7-5.
The final day of play begins on Sunday at 8 a.m. Tech will take on host Georgia in singles action.
