McAdoo, Prokopuik win Singles Draws at Fall Invite

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team had a successful final day at the Roberta Alison Fall Invite at the University of Alabama.

Sophomore Alexis Prokopuik was the winner of the Susan Carver singles draw, defeating Mississippi State’s Jennifer Brown, 6-3, 6-4 for the title. Junior Rasheeda McAdoo also won her draw, winning a 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 battle against Mississippi State’s Anastasia Rentouli in the Courtney McClane Draw.

Junior Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer was victorious in the Becca Baum draw, defeating Troy’s Jiayuan Xue, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 on the back side of the draw. Sophomore Johnnise Renaud fell to Mississippi State’s Georgina Patrasc, 6-2, 6-4.  

The Jackets also had a doubles team win its bracket. McAdoo and Renaud, who didn’t play yesterday because they had a first round bye, faced Northwestern’s Or/Larner and blanked their opponents, 6-0, to move onto the finals of the Emily Zabor Draw. In the finals, the duo faced Ole Miss’s Jandric/Suk and fought hard for a 7-6 (5) victory.

In the Jenny Whalen doubles draw, Anton-Ohlmeyer and Prokopuik won 6-3 against Samford’s Moolman and Northcutt. In the finals, the tandem lost to DePaul’s Cozac/Mitrea, 6-4.
