GREENSBORO, N.C. – After notching four first place finishes in the 1 and 3-meter dives against the likes of Clemson, Western Kentucky and Penn State, Georgia Tech diver Brandon Makinson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Co-Performer of the Week.
Makinson earned the nod alongside North Carolina freshman Dominick Glavich. It was the second Performer of the Week honor for Makinson and his first this season.
Makinson took the top spot amongst eight different divers in Friday night’s meet against Clemson and Western Kentucky with a score of 334.05 in the 1-meter dive and 373.75 in the 3-meter. On Saturday morning, Makinson rebounded nicely from the long competition the night before with some season best marks in both the 1-meter (354.90) and 3-meter (396.68).
His 1-meter mark on Saturday was just six points shy and the 3-meter mark was just over 10 points shy of the school record marks set in each event by Makinson last year at the ACC Championships.
Makinson and the rest of the Tech swim and dive squad will be back in action at the Georgia Tech Invitational from November 18-20 at the GT Aquatic Center.
