Lumbra, Hardy Open NCAA Zone Diving Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Shannon Lumbra and Ashley Hardy opened the NCAA Zone B Diving Championship in Greensboro, N.C., on Monday with 11th and 12th-place finishes, respectively, on the 1-meter springboard.

Lumbra posted a two-round score of 571.65, followed closely by Hardy, who scored 571.30 points.

Lumbra was 12th after Monday’s prelims as the sophomore scored 288.05 points. Hardy was 13th with her prelim score of 279.20. Both Yellow Jackets were among the top-18 scorers from the 49 divers that competed in the prelims.

Freshmen Bradley Homza and Omar Eteiba competed in the preliminaries of the men’s 3-meter competition, but neither reached the finals. Homza was 20th with a score of 295.80, while Eteiba was 22nd with his score of 292.50.

Action continues Tuesday with women’s 3-meter and men’s 1-meter competitions.
