Letter to Current Men's Basketball Season-Ticket Holders

March 28, 2011

Dear Men’s Basketball Season Ticket Holder:

A new era in Georgia Tech basketball has begun!

I can’t thank you enough for your interest and support of our basketball program and am simply elated to welcome Brian Gregory as our new head coach. As you begin to learn about Coach Gregory, his philosophy, his work ethic, his commitment to the total program both athletically and academically, it will not be hard to see why his teams have won 97 games in just the last four seasons.

Brian Gregory is not only an outstanding basketball coach, but he is a tireless worker and recruiter who cares deeply about his players. There is no question that he will succeed as basketball coach at Georgia Tech, and he will win by doing things the right way.

Brian coached eight seasons at Dayton where he compiled a record of 172-94 and participated in the NCAA Tournament or NIT five times. His 2003-04 and 2008-09 teams earned NCAA Tournament berths and last season the Flyers captured the NIT crown after beating North Carolina in the championship game. The 1990 Oakland (Mich.) University graduate won 150 games faster (seven seasons) than any coach in Dayton history. Over the last four seasons combined, his teams went 13-4 against BCS-level teams.

Coach Gregory clearly put an emphasis on academics during his tenure at Dayton. Entering the 2010-11 season, every senior who played for Gregory graduated (23-of-23). All seven seniors who played on the 2010 NIT title team graduated last spring.

This is an exciting day in Yellow Jacket athletics. I urge you to join all of us in welcoming Brian and Yvette Gregory and their two young girls to the Georgia Tech family.

As you are aware, the Georgia Tech men’s basketball team will make a temporary home in two venues in Atlanta for the 2011-12 season during the renovation of the McCamish Pavilion – Philips Arena and The Arena at Gwinnett Center. A ten-game season ticket will be sold for games played at Philips Arena (8 ACC opponents, 1 Big Ten opponent and Alabama). A limited number of non-conference games will be played at The Arena at Gwinnett Center and tickets will be sold on a single game basis.

In June of 2011, your season ticket renewal information will be mailed to you. As a renewing season ticket holder, you will receive first priority for seating in Philips Arena with your seats being assigned (by A-T points) prior to any new season ticket requests. Season ticket prices will start at $300 at Philips Arena with additional Tech Fund seating sections available. Your 2011 Season Ticket Renewal information will contain your seating options, premium options, Philips Arena seating chart, parking information and other important details about our temporary home at Philips Arena. All of these details will assist in the transition and help all of us feel right at home in Philips Arena.

With new enthusiasm and energy surrounding the program, we anticipate an increased interest in season ticket sales. Family, friends and colleagues who would like to become new season ticket holders in 2011-12 may currently make a deposit for the opportunity to purchase season tickets at www.ramblinwreck.com/tickets. (Those who make a deposit will also be mailed a ticket application in June 2011). Please note: As a renewing season ticket holder, you are not required to make a deposit at this time. Additionally, any new deposits will NOT impact your status as a renewing season ticket holder.

Georgia Tech is a special place and our men’s basketball program has a proud tradition. With new coaching leadership and a competitive schedule, 2011 is the year to remain on board and maintain your season ticket holder status for the opening of the McCamish Pavilion in 2012. When the time comes this summer, we hope that you remain steadfast and strong and choose to renew your men’s basketball season tickets. If you should have any questions regarding season basketball tickets, please do not hesitate to contact the ticket office at 888-832-4849 or email tickets@athletics.gatech.edu.

Thank you for your continued support of Georgia Tech Athletics.
